Tommy L. Brown is the 5th Pastor of New Mount Zion Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas, Inc. Since becoming the Pastor of New Mount Zion in October of 2014 over 500 members have been added to the New Mount Zion Church family.
Dr. Brown is a graduate of Andersonville Theological Seminary where he received his Doctorate of Theology, Masters of Theology and Bachelors of Theology Degrees.
Dr. Brown is also a graduate of Navarro Jr. College where he received an Associates of Arts Degree in Business and Computer Science. He is a 1980 graduate of Ennis High School in Ennis, TX.
Dr. Brown’s passion is Preaching and Teaching. He is a gifted man of God who loves ministering to families. He and his wife Ruth were featured in the January 2010 edition of Trendsetter’s Magazine in an article titled, “Mixing Love and Business.”
Dr. Brown and his wife Ruth teach a class in the National Baptist Congress titled, “Marriage God’s Style”. Together they have been teaching this class for over 10 years and has served as an Instructor of the National Baptist Congress for over 20 years.
Dr. Brown is a respected leader not only on the local level but also on the state and national levels. He serves as 2nd Vice President of the Dallas Baptist Ministers Union, 3rd Vice Moderator of the Greater Rising Star District Association, and General Secretary of the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America.
Dr. Brown is a board member of the R. H. Boyd Publishing Corporation.
Dr. Brown has been honored in Who’s Who Among American Businessmen and Who’s Who in Black Dallas where he was honored as a game-changer in the city of Dallas in 2016.
Dr. Brown was selected as Minister of the Year in Dallas, Texas by the Interdenominational Ministers Alliance in February of 2016.
Dr. Brown is author of the book: “Activate your Faith”.
Dr. Brown is married to his high school sweetheart, Ruth Chanel Morris Brown, and has two daughters, Veronica and Angela, and one son, Joshua.

Nell is a member of the New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas where her pastor is Dr. Tommy L. Brown and she serves as a Sunday School Teacher. At New Mount Zion, she is involved with the Minister's Wives and Deaconess, sings in the Women’s Chorus, and works in the office of the New Mount Zion Day Care Center.
Nell graduated from Ennis High School in 1980. After finishing High School she continued her education by attending Navarro Jr. College where she graduated in 1982. While there, she was named Who’s Who Among Junior College Students.
Nell later moved to Arlington, Texas and attended the University of Texas at Arlington in 1999 where her major was Education. She was employed in the Arlington School District for 19 years and worked with the Disadvantaged Children, Behavior Intervention Program, Special Education Department, and was the Campus Technology Manager at Lynn Hale Elementary. In 2011 she received the Employee of the Year Award on her campus.
Nell received her Diploma in Biblical Studies from the Faith Bible Institute and is an Instructor for the National Baptist Sunday School and B.T.U. Congress where Dr. T. B. Boyd III is the CEO / President where she teaches the Minister’s Wives and Widows Class and for 10 years has taught a course entitled “Marriage God’s Style” along with her husband, Dr. Tommy L. Brown.
Nell is a 2015 graduate of Dallas Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts and Science Degree in Christian Ministries.
Nell received the Elite News Woman of Excellence Award in 2008 and in that same year she also was honored by the National Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas Women and Girls Conference as a Godly Woman on Display by Design.

Nell is also active in the community. She is a volunteer worker for the North Texas Food Bank and has helped at battered women’s shelters, homeless shelters, and Viola’s House Dallas.
Nell loves people because Christ first loved her. Her saying is “I was made to become like Him”. Her desire is to spread the Word of God not just by talking it but also by living it daily.
Nell loves the Lord with all her heart, mind, and soul.
On January 8th, 1983 she married her high school sweet heart, Dr. Tommy L. Brown. They have been married for 34 years. He is her Pastor, mentor, best friend, sounding board, and protector. He’s her all and all. They have 3 children, Veronica, Angela and Joshua.
